Concession Stand Build

November 11th Update

111120092
The walls are up and roofing should be completed by the weekend.  There have been some changes during construction (aren't there always).  After looking over the space allocated to the concessions area we carved out a 8'x8' space for fanwear.  It was determined that we could afford to create it without sacrificing the space needed for food prep.  In doing this we added some studs, and another rollup door and a door from inside, along with the shelving etc. Siding, Ext. doors, drywall and rgh mechanicals should be done by end of next week.
October 28th Update
We are under construction......permits in hand, and ground work has begun.

Due to the extensive roots that the big maple tree that stood behind the old stand had, we were forced to remove the old slab and could not reuse it.  Good thing, it was also pitched 4" from back to front, and because the new building was going to come too close to the well head we moved the entire building 3' south.

The holding tank and clean out has already been installed and the foundation slabwork is ready for pouring.  The under ground plumbing is going in today and concrete should be going in by the end of the week.  Framing will begin next week.

Budget so far has taken a small hit, but the company where we were purchasing the HM doors and bathroom partitions has agreed to donate the bathroom access.  Any little bit helps!
October 22nd Update
Cnstruction1
As of Tuesday Oct 20, construction on the new concession stand has begun.  As you can see it was not difficult to remove the old building, a couple of strategic saw cuts and a little help from a backhoe and down she came.

With any remodeling project you discover some unanticipated obstacles. While trying to grub out the stump from the tree we discovered that the power lines to the right field lights and power line to the scoreboard ran directly through the root ball, we knew they were around there somewhere, but not IN the roots.  They where going to need to be rerouted anyway, but....  We also found that the existing conc floor of the old building was sloped dramatically, even more than originally thought, and when it cracked significantly pulling out the stump it was determined we were better off starting fresh.

The permitting process with the city and county has been a long process. I want to at this time take the opportunity to thank Lauren Cnare our alderperson, Mike Daily at the city, and some of the other builing inspectors, and engineers who took our small project under thier wing to help us wade through this process.

More pictures and updates to follow as work progresses.
